OT: Madden 2006 PC Coach mode & Cpu vs. Cpu Sliders

Post by Redwolf on Mon Aug 29, 2011 11:56 pm

I was actually able to recover my second last set (the one before final) for 2006, but instead of posting this, I will post a brand new set that I developed that changes the dynamics of the game (verses previous sets) that I am quite happy with.

This set replicates the sim engine averages of the '06 sim engine pretty closely. However, you will not see a 60% or thereabout completion % average, and instead, will see a 54% average. The focus was on replicating the QB Rating of the sim engine in the long term (which averages a QB Rating of 78) - and pass yardage and TD to interception ratios play a far bigger role in this rating. So, what you will get is passing yardage that is very comparable to the sim engine as well as QB Ratings and scoring. Also note, you will not be averaging a 4.0 yards per carry rushing. Instead, it will average YPC's around the 3.7-3.8 mark (which is quite close to the sim engine average as well).

Note: This set works best in franchise if an editor is used to adjust coaching tendencies for sim engine games to increase passing by +7 (reverting back to default for played/coached games).

    Here is the set:

    Skill Level: All Pro
Quarter Length: 12 minute(s) - accelerated clock, of course.

    Slider Human CPU
    QB Accuracy 55 55
    Pass Blocking 28 28
    Receiver Catching 72 72
    Running Ability 76 76
Offensive line Run Blocking 39 39
    Defensive Awareness 40 40
    Defensive line Knockdowns 13 13
    Interceptions 10 10
    Defensive Break Blocks 2 2
    Tackling 38 38
    Fieldgoal Length 45 45
    Fieldgoal Accuracy 20 20
    Punt Length 99 99
    Punt Accuracy 80 80
    Kickoff Length 69 69

    Happy Gaming!
    Cool

Forgot to include the Sub Out/Sub In settings: 85/95

...really really loving this set!!!...I might go so far as to say that this may indeed be the best I've ever done in any edition of Madden that I've done sliders for ('02-'08 inclusive) cheers The game is playing really well for me. I'm actually losing games (which was a complaint I had prior re: '06 engine - too easy to win/overachieve). Last game I had with my '05 49ers (I always start with really poor teams) I lost 34-21. The nice thing was (aside from losing) was that the score was 31-7 at half-time. If this was Madden '04 with it's skewed momentum (my big complaint against that engine), it in all likelihood would have finished more like 45-10 (in my experience). I actually won the second half 14-3 to finish the game behind 34-21 - a much more common scenario in the NFL.
Crank up the graphics to its highest resolution, turn up your vid card to max AA & Anisotropic filtering, and throw in the High Definition patch for '08 (it works for '06 too) - and it looks good.
Anyways, having a good time with it - to this point, anyways.

Where can you get the High Def patch for 08?

Here ya go Smooth: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

It was originally made for nhl '09. Just drop all three files into your main madden directory (be it '06,07,'08). It adds some bloom/lighting effects and alters the colors a bit. There are a number of settings in the .ini that can be adjusted - but I don't have the info on editing it any more with the death of Football-Freaks. I have it on default (unaltered) and it does make the game(s) look better imho.

You can toggle it on or off with one of the function keys (F4 if memory servers) - or simply delete the files if you don't like it. It doesn't harm a thing.

    You are very welcome. Cool

And I stand corrected - you can toggle it on & off with Shift-F9 (not F4).

Hey, thanks for the compliment. Smile
Ironically, with all that work, I am not even using my own custom league (I am not playing '08 at all at the moment). This tweaked slider set for '06 has really caught my fancy and I am loving it! I am playing out a 2005 season/franchise with it in Madden '06....and continue to play FBPro'98.
